Portfolio Description

Keke App is a ride-hailing platform designed to modernize tricycle (Keke) transportation, providing a fast, affordable, and convenient way for commuters to book rides. The app connects passengers with verified Keke riders in real time, ensuring a seamless and secure travel experience. With features like instant ride booking, real-time GPS tracking, fare estimation, multiple payment options, and safety tools such as an SOS button and ride-sharing with contacts, Keke App prioritizes efficiency and security. Riders benefit from optimized trip routes, earnings tracking, and a steady flow of ride requests, helping them maximize their income. Targeting daily commuters, business owners, and Keke operators, the platform aims to bring structure and technology-driven convenience to the traditional tricycle transport system, making short-distance travel smoother and more reliable.

The challenge

As the UI Designer for Keke App, my role focused on creating an intuitive, user-friendly interface that enhances the experience for both passengers and Keke riders. The main challenges included ensuring ease of use for less tech-savvy riders, designing a clear ride-booking flow, and optimizing real-time GPS tracking visibility. Balancing functionality with simplicity was crucial, especially in integrating payment options, safety features, and trip navigation without overwhelming users. Despite challenges like user adoption resistance and regulatory constraints, the redesigned UI aimed to make Keke App an accessible, visually engaging, and seamless ride-hailing experience.

Unique Experience

As the UI Designer for Keke App, I faced the challenge of designing for both tech-savvy users and riders with little digital experience. Balancing simplicity and functionality was tough, I had to ensure the interface was intuitive, easy to navigate, and visually engaging without overwhelming users. One of my biggest struggles was optimizing real-time GPS tracking in a way that felt seamless and reliable. Payment integration was another hurdle, as many riders preferred cash, so the design had to accommodate both digital and offline transactions. Despite these challenges, seeing the final design come to life where everything just clicked made it all worth it.

The Keke App needed to be accessible to drivers with little or no tech experience, making simplicity and ease of use a top priority. Many Keke riders are unfamiliar with complex digital interfaces, so the design had to be clear, minimal, and intuitive using large buttons, simple icons, and step-by-step prompts for effortless navigation. Features like one-tap ride acceptance, voice-assisted notifications, and automatic fare calculations were essential to reduce confusion. Additionally, offline-friendly features ensured that drivers could still operate in areas with poor internet connectivity. The goal was to create a frictionless experience, allowing Keke riders to focus on driving rather than struggling with technology.
